Statues Inside Paintings

As we all know, Florence is absolutely loaded with history. Whether it's scripture, sculptural, painterly, or even architecture; Florence has everything. Each gallery we explored contained different artists, peculiar artifacts (like fingers and bones in tiny jars), as well as a diverse time scape of artworks.

My favorite gallery was the Uffizi. It began as offices to accommodate the magistrates in 1560. Not until the sixteenth century after the Medici reign was it opened as a museum but by request only. In 1765 it was finally opened to the public.

There was one room that felt especially unique and particular to me. It was a room filled with marble statues that all had the most interesting hand and arm gestures. Not only this but they were displayed in front of the most vast and stunning paintings I have ever seen. Below are images I captured of the two blending together as one piece of art.

Nick and Daniel

A wedding is a magical ceremony that I am always delighted to photograph and be apart of. Nick and Daniel are an incredible couple with a bright energy and endless love and caring for one another. They have one of the most supportive and happy families I have ever seen.  A spectacular wedding, a brilliant love, and a timeless marriage.

Yoga With Suzette

I had the pleasure of reuniting with Suzette after 4 years for a shoot in Riverside Park to photograph her practicing yoga. It was an incredible honor to photograph Suzette. Seeing the immense amount of physical strength as well as mental strength she used to achieve these incredible poses.

Suzette, I wish you luck on your journey of private practices and cannot wait to see what dazzling poses you achieve next!

The Electric Tongues at Pianos: COME SEE THEM THIS FRIDAY! 4/18

The Electric Tongues are a wild non-stop rock band that has recently joined together to create a high energy, super rad sound. Their jams are similar to The Clash, Talking Heads, and Rocket from the Crypt. Every show of theirs I have been to, the Electric Tongues kill it. Their energy not only with the audience, but with each other is incredible. And I like going to their shows because that cute drummer is my main squeeze.

Get your ass to their next show at The Bitter End on April 18th at 1100! THIS FRIDAY!!

Check them out on Facebook and Bandcamp !!

The Last Sunset in Hawaii

After an amazing 2 and a half weeks in Hawaii, we ended the trip with a beautiful drive through what seemed like 5 different types of weather. I will never forget the amount of freedom, wonder and astonishment I felt. There was a transformation within my soul that occurred during this drive.

First rainbow we saw in Hawaii

"Once the storm is over, you won't remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won't even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won't be the same person who walked in. That is what this storm is all about."
-Haruki Murakami

Mauna Kea covered in snow in the background. Such an incredible sight to see.

You will never be completely at home again, because a part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of knowing and loving people in more than one place.

Beginning of night fall

Every second brings a fresh beginning, every hour holds a new promise, every night our dreams can bring hope, and every day is what you choose to make it.

I miss Hawaii already.

Driving Home From Kona

So this drive has happened 4 times out of our trip. Sounds like not so much, but it's 2 and a half hours each way. Usually Im asleep for most of the ride because my boy is driving but for once I stayed awake and it is one of the most incredible drives I have ever experienced. Hanging my head out the window, listening to Creedance Clearwater Revival and occasionally looking over at the face of my lover. I could not ask for anything better.

As a miniature recap of the day in Kona, we cruised on a high powered 14 person boat with humpback whales, swam with dolphins at the bow of the boat, captured manta rays jumping at the sight of "False Killer Whales". (Pictures and video to come in the next post)

ENOUGH SAID.
From one extreme to another. The Big Island of Hawaii has 11 out of 13 climates possible in the world.

Ive never felt more open and more free in my life. My bones have been awakened, my soul has been set free: I have finally and truly realized that I am a free soul.

Ever changing, developing and growing.

Within 5 minutes of fog one can see the sun

Nature will forever be my calling.

Oahu: The North Shore

"The poetry of the earth is never dead."
- John Keats

The day started with a peaceful drive through coffee plantations, pineapple farms, and mountains.

"Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy - your work becomes a dance with light and weather. It takes you to a place within yourself."
- Annie Leibovitz
